SAFETY RULES
The below listed safety rules are for the protection of all members, guests, spectators and neighbors using or visiting our flying site and must be obeyed!
Failure to comply with these safety rules will bring a reminder on the first occasion and discipline, in accordance with our By-laws for any subsequent infraction.
GENERIC SAFETY RULES
1. All members MUST have a valid AMA membership, which must be shown upon request
of any Club officer.
2. NO alcoholic beverages are allowed on the premises at any time.
3. All guests and spectators are required to remain behind the Flight Line barriers at all
times unless specifically invited to enter the Flight Line by a member, who shall be
responsible for the invitee at all time while on the Flight Line.
4. All guest expecting to fly a model must be accompanied by an active Club member and
will be limited to a maximum of three visits as a flying guest. After this, they MUST
request Club membership and have an active AMA membership to continue using the
field.
5. Spectators and guests are responsible for any children or animals that they bring to the
field and must maintain control at all times.
6. All model aircraft MUST have the owners Name, Address, Telephone Number and AMA
Membership Number affixed to, or in, their model prior to flying the model. (I.D.
stickers are available at no cost).
7. Vehicles (including motorcycles) shall be parked in the designated parking area only.
8. Frequency Control shall be maintained at all times and NO transmitter may be turned on
while any one is flying, running their engine, checking control surface direction and
range or performing a range check WITHOUT first checking to see that the active
transmitter is not on your same frequency.
9. When three (3) or more people are at the field to fly, frequency pins, from our Frequency
Board, are required.
10. When two (2) or more people are flying at the same time, all takeoffs and landings
MUST be on the runway and into the wind. No takeoffs are allowed across the runway
in this situation and no landings, except in case of emergency, shall be across the
runway.
11. In cases of emergency, the flier experiencing the emergency shall announce, as loudly as
possible that a problem exists and anyone else with a plane in the air shall immediately
take his plane to a higher altitude, clear of the runway and maintain this higher altitude
until the troubled model is on the ground. Those on the ground and not flying shall
maintain visual contact with the troubled model until it is on the ground.
12. Models are to have the engines facing the runway and the model tethered when the
engines are started.
SPECIFIC RULES FOR OUR FIELD
1. Upon arrival at the field, check the bulletin board to ensure that flying is not being
restricted due to some activity at the neighboring church. Remember there is to be NO
flying or running of engines before 1:30 PM on Sundays
2. Be respectful of the field and the rules, particularly, look for model planes in the air
when entering the field via the access road from S. Park Street (Club entrance)
and proceed only when it is safe to do so. Entrance to the field parking area from the
church parking lot is not permitted.
3. Park only in the designated parking area and in such manner that others have room to
park their vehicles. Maintain slow speed when entering or leaving the field.
4. Do not litter – use the trash can to dispose of your trash.
5. No flying is permitted when the field is being mowed.
6. Remain alert for farmers in their fields or persons on ATV’s or horseback and remain
well clear of them.
7. Noise from all models will be closely monitored. Models producing excessive noise may be
banned from flying at this field.
8. Anyone flying in a dangerous or unsafe manner or flying a model producing excessive
noise will be grounded by a Club officer or the senior Club member present.
9. First time flyers at our field, experienced or novice, must be accompanied by an
experienced Club member for the duration of this first flight.
10. It is strongly suggested that persons learning to fly be trained through the use of a
Buddy Box.
